Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group (SMRG) is a professional, all-volunteer wilderness search and rescue organization established to provide assistance to those who become lost or injured in the outdoors. Along with other member organizations of the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference (ASRC), SMRG responds to emergencies anywhere in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to conduct searches for missing persons or aircraft, and to carry out rescue operations in wilderness areas that require specialized equipment and techniques.
SMRG is a Search and Rescue organization specializing in ground search and semi-technical rescue operations across the Commonwealth of Virginia and surrounding areas. We work with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), Shenandoah National Park (SNP), and the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference (ASRC) to help locate and retrieve missing persons in both wilderness and urban environments.
SMRG is funded by member dues and the generosity of donors that wish to support our cause. If you can, consider making a one-time or recurring donation towards our operational expenses and equipment.
Do you want to help people in their time of greatest need? Join SMRG, learn new skills, and find your role in our organization.
